Everything about RECONNECT, in one place.
Product
What is RECONNECT?
A water-based cooling and heating system for the bed you already own. A Control Unit cools or warms water and moves it through fine tubing in a Mattress Pad that sits under your fitted sheet.
Is it like air conditioning?
No. It works on your bed, not your room. RECONNECT brings the sleep surface toward the temperature you set, and does its best work in a comfortably cool bedroom. In a heatwave you may still want your air conditioning on.
Is there electricity in the Pad?
No. Water circulates through fine tubing in the Pad. The powered components sit in the Control Unit beside the bed.
Does the Pad change how my mattress feels?
The Pad is 0.8 in (2 cm) thick and designed to stay low-profile beneath your fitted sheet. Most people notice little change in mattress feel, although the surface can feel slightly firmer depending on your mattress and bedding.
Where does the Mattress Pad go on the bed?
Lay the Mattress Pad directly on top of your mattress with the textured side facing up, then put your fitted sheet over it. Your usual bedding goes on top as normal.
Which side of the Mattress Pad faces up?
The textured side faces up. Secure the Pad flat and wrinkle-free with the corner elastics before adding your fitted sheet.
What is in the box?
RECONNECT includes the Control Unit, dual-zone Mattress Pad, connection tubing / hose assembly, air pump, power cable and setup / quick-start documentation.
What voltage does RECONNECT use?
RECONNECT operates on 110–120V AC, 50/60Hz and uses a standard grounded US NEMA 5-15P plug.
Can I use RECONNECT in Europe, the UK or other countries?
The current model is designed for 110–120V, 50/60Hz power. It is not designed for 220–240V regions such as Europe, the UK or the UAE. A travel plug adapter only changes the plug shape and does not convert voltage.
What sizes and colors are available?
Queen and King at launch. Both are dual-zone, with a black Control Unit and dark gray Mattress Pad.
Bed compatibility
What mattress depth does RECONNECT fit?
The Mattress Pad is designed for mattresses approximately 6 to 16 in deep (15 to 40 cm). The elastic corner straps secure the Pad around the mattress.
What mattress types does RECONNECT work with?
RECONNECT is designed as a topper-style system for standard mattresses. The same platform is used on pocket-spring setups and adjustable beds, and the Pad sits on top of the mattress beneath your fitted sheet.
Can I use RECONNECT on an adjustable bed?
Yes. The flexible Mattress Pad can be used with an adjustable bed base. Keep the connection tubing free of sharp bends, pinching or kinks as the bed moves.
Does body weight affect cooling performance?
It can. Water-based cooling has to absorb the heat produced by the sleeper, so heavier sleepers place a higher thermal load on the system. On this platform, cooling performance may be reduced for sleepers above roughly 120 kg (265 lb), particularly in warmer rooms.
Temperature
What temperatures can it reach?
Water settings run from 54 to 95°F (12 to 35°C) for cooling and 77 to 131°F (25 to 55°C) for heating. These are water temperatures. The surface you feel depends on your room and bedding. We recommend using RECONNECT in rooms below 86°F (30°C).
How long until it is ready?
Allow 30 to 45 minutes to reach your setting, or use Turbo for a quicker start. Most people start it 30 to 60 minutes before bed.
How loud is it?
The Control Unit is rated under 38 dBA.
Why doesn't the bed feel exactly like the temperature shown on the display?
The display shows the water temperature circulating through the Mattress Pad, not a measured mattress-surface temperature. When you adjust a setting, the display shows the target temperature; during use, the actual water temperature can move as the system absorbs body heat. How the bed feels also depends on your room temperature, bedding and body heat.
Does room temperature affect cooling?
Yes. RECONNECT cools the bed rather than the entire room, so room conditions affect performance. RECONNECT is recommended for rooms below 86°F (30°C). In warmer rooms, use air conditioning or improve room airflow where practical, give the system time to pre-cool, and keep the Control Unit well ventilated.
Modes and Smart Rhythms
What modes are there?
RECONNECT has Custom, Turbo and Smart Rhythms (shown as Auto Sleep on the Unit), available within heating and cooling operation. Press Mode repeatedly until the cooling or heating option you want appears. Custom holds your chosen temperature, Turbo runs at the heating or cooling limit for one hour then returns to Custom, and Smart Rhythms follows its built-in overnight program.
What is Smart Rhythms?
Smart Rhythms is a built-in nine-hour temperature program shown as Auto Sleep on the Unit. It does not use sensors, sleep tracking or an app. To switch between Map 1 and Map 2, press and hold Timer for 3–5 seconds while Smart Rhythms is selected.
Do I need an app, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
No. RECONNECT is controlled directly on the Unit. There is no app or account required, and the system does not rely on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for normal operation.
Which mode is the quietest?
Smart Rhythms, shown as Auto Sleep on the Control Unit, is the quietest operating mode.
Controls and display
What are the buttons on the Control Unit?
From left to right: Timer, Zone, Temperature Down, Temperature Up, Mode and Power. Press Mode repeatedly to cycle through the available heating/cooling operating options.
How do I switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius?
Press and hold the Mode button for 5 seconds to switch the display between °F and °C.
How do I select the left or right side?
Press Zone. The selected side flashes on the display. Press Zone again to switch sides, then use Temperature Down or Temperature Up to adjust that side.
How do I turn only one side on or off?
For the left side, hold Temperature Up + Power for 5 seconds. For the right side, hold Temperature Down + Power for 5 seconds.
Does RECONNECT remember my settings after I turn it off or unplug it?
Yes. The Control Unit remembers your previous settings after power-off or unplugging.
Is there a factory reset?
There is no user factory-reset procedure. If you are troubleshooting an error, switch the Control Unit off at the wall, wait 5 minutes, then turn it back on. If the error does not clear, contact RECONNECT Support.
Does the display stay bright all night?
No. After you finish using the controls, the display fades dark so it does not light up the room while you sleep.
Zones
Are both Queen and King dual-zone?
Yes. Both launch sizes are dual-zone. Queen is 60 × 80 in (152 × 203 cm) and King is 76 × 80 in (193 × 203 cm).
Can one side cool while the other warms?
No. Both sides must be cooling or both heating. We recommend keeping them within 14°F (8°C) of each other.
Can I use RECONNECT alone and leave the other side off?
Yes. Either side can be switched off independently. Hold Temperature Up + Power for 5 seconds for the left side, or Temperature Down + Power for 5 seconds for the right side.
Setup
How long does setup take?
About 20 minutes, once. See the setup guide for every step.
What water should I use?
Clean, filtered or distilled water. The reservoir holds about 51 to 57 fl oz (1.5 to 1.7 L).
Can I use a mattress protector?
Yes. A thin waterproof mattress protector can be placed over the Pad and is recommended to help protect against spills and condensation.
What does the E3 alert mean on first use?
It means the reservoir needs water. That is normal during setup. Add water until the alert stays off.
Where should I place the Control Unit?
Place the Control Unit on a firm, level, stable surface beside the bed, close to a properly grounded wall outlet. Leave at least 6 in (15 cm) of clearance on all sides for airflow, keep the vents unobstructed, and use the system only in a dry indoor location.
Can I put the Control Unit under the bed or inside a cabinet?
The Control Unit needs open airflow. Keep it on a firm, level, dry surface with at least 6 in (15 cm) of clearance on all sides and keep the vents unobstructed. Avoid tight or enclosed spaces that restrict ventilation.
Can I use RECONNECT outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. RECONNECT is intended for dry indoor household use. Keep the Control Unit away from water and never immerse it.
Can I use an extension cord or power strip?
No. Plug RECONNECT directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord, adapter or relocatable power tap / power strip.
Why does the water level drop during first setup?
That is normal. As water fills the tubing and Mattress Pad, the reservoir level falls and E3 may reappear. Keep adding clean, filtered or distilled water until E3 and the audible alert no longer return. Do not fill past the maximum water line.
How much water does RECONNECT hold?
The reservoir holds about 51 to 57 fl oz (1.5 to 1.7 L). During first setup, some of that water moves into the tubing and Mattress Pad, so you may need to top up several times until E3 stops returning.
Can I use tap water?
Use distilled, filtered or pure water. Untreated tap water is not recommended. The system is designed to run with clean water only.
Can I add cleaning solution, fragrance or anything else to the water?
No. Use clean distilled, filtered or pure water only. Do not add cleaning products, fragrance, oils or other additives to the reservoir.
How should I route the connection tubing?
Keep the tubes free of tangles, sharp bends and kinks. Restricted tubing can reduce water flow and cooling performance. Leave a relaxed path between the Mattress Pad and Control Unit, especially if you use an adjustable bed.
Everyday use
Is there a timer?
Yes, from 1 to 12 hours. The Unit also shuts off automatically after 12 hours.
Can I leave RECONNECT running all night?
Yes. You can use the 1–12 hour timer, and the Control Unit also shuts off automatically after 12 hours.
How much power does RECONNECT use?
The certified US model is rated at 220W in cooling mode and 400W in heating mode. Actual consumption varies as the system reaches and maintains your setting.
How do I lock or unlock the controls?
Hold Mode + Temperature Up together for 3 seconds to lock or unlock the controls.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. RECONNECT is a single purchase. There are no tiers, memberships or locked features.
Troubleshooting
What do E1, E2 or E4 mean?
E1 means an internal issue. E2 means a fan issue. E4 means a temperature sensor issue. For any of these codes, turn the Control Unit off at the wall outlet, wait 5 minutes, then turn it back on. If the code does not clear, contact RECONNECT Support.
What happens when an error code appears?
The buzzer sounds three times and the Control Unit shuts down after about one minute. For E3, add water. For E1, E2 or E4, power the Unit off at the wall for 5 minutes and restart it. Contact Support if the code remains.
What should I do if I overfill the reservoir?
Stop adding water and use a dry towel to absorb the excess. Do not fill beyond the maximum water line.
Why might one side run slightly warmer than the other?
Warm exhaust air and restricted airflow around the Control Unit can affect temperatures slightly. On warm nights, the side nearest the warm exhaust may read around about 2–4°F (1–2°C) warmer. Make sure the Unit has at least 6 in (15 cm) of clearance on all sides and that the tubing is not kinked.
What should I check if RECONNECT is not cooling enough?
Give the system around 30 to 45 minutes to approach your setting. Then check that the Control Unit has at least 6 in (15 cm) of clear airflow, the tubing is not kinked or pinched, the system has enough water, and the bedroom is not unusually warm. RECONNECT is recommended for rooms below 86°F (30°C).
See Getting the most from cooling for more.
Why are the buttons not responding?
The child lock may be on. Hold Mode + Temperature Up together for 3 seconds to unlock the controls, then try again.
Maintenance
Does RECONNECT require much maintenance?
Very little. Top up with clean, filtered or distilled water about every two to three months, run a hot cycle about once a week, keep the Control Unit vents clear and spot-clean the Mattress Pad when needed. See Safety and care for full instructions.
How often do I refill it?
About every two to three months. The Unit alerts you when it needs a top up.
Will it make my bed damp?
Very cold settings in a humid room can create condensation. If dampness happens only during cooling, raise the cooling setting, use a thin waterproof mattress protector and reduce room humidity where practical.
If moisture appears during heating, the reservoir level drops noticeably, or wetness keeps returning in the same area, stop using RECONNECT, unplug it and contact Support. That can indicate a water leak rather than condensation.
Can I wash the Mattress Pad?
No. The Pad is not machine washable. Normal marks can be wiped by hand with a damp cloth. Do not soak, bleach, iron, vacuum or dry-clean it. A thin waterproof mattress protector is recommended to help protect the Pad from spills and condensation. See Safety and care for full instructions.
How do I clean spills or stains on the Mattress Pad?
Dab the area gently with a damp cloth. Do not soak the Pad, machine wash it or use bleach or solvents. Let it dry fully before use.
Can I vacuum the Mattress Pad?
No. Do not vacuum the Mattress Pad. Spot-clean it gently with a damp cloth when needed.
How do I drain RECONNECT for storage?
Turn the Control Unit off and unplug it. Place a towel or tray underneath, disconnect the water tubing, drain the water into a container of at least 1.5 L, and use the included air pump to clear remaining water from the Mattress Pad tubing. Fit the protective caps before storage.
How should I store RECONNECT?
Drain the system fully, clear the Mattress Pad tubing with the air pump, fit the protective caps, fold the Pad carefully and store the system in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Can I buy a replacement Mattress Pad, tubing or other parts?
If you need a replacement Mattress Pad, tubing, power cable or another component, email info@reconnectsleep.com with your order number and what you need. We will confirm the correct option for your system.
Can I move or travel with RECONNECT?
Yes, but drain it first. Switch the Control Unit off and unplug it, disconnect the tubing over a towel or tray, drain the water, and use the included air pump to clear remaining water from the Mattress Pad. Fit the protective caps if supplied before packing or storing it.
How should I dispose of or recycle RECONNECT?
Do not dispose of the Control Unit with ordinary household waste. Use an appropriate electronics collection or recycling service available in your area. If you are unsure what applies locally, contact your local waste authority or RECONNECT Support.
